Disha is functional in the rural and tribal area of Darekasa, in Gondia district since 1999. The major motto is to provide primary health facilities to the population of this remote area. Over the years, Disha has contributed to the overall community development of this area. The activities have covered basic health and medical facilities, education, social awareness, creating job opportunities for the locals to name a few. Every year, on occasion of the foundation day, an annual pediatric camp along with ANC mother check-up camp is organized. Along with this, meritorious students of this area are also felicitated.This year due to COVID -19 situation, we only conducted the pediatric and ANC check-up camps. Around 256 patients were checked of which 124 children were treated by Dr.Sunil Deshmukh, pediatrician GMC, Gondia and 23 ANC mothers were treated by Dr.Tejaswini Bhuskute and Dr.Juhi Bhalotia (Gyneacologists). 18 sonographies and 6 X-rays were conducted. On this occasion, continuing with the tradition, tree plantation was done in Disha premises where 25 Seetaphal trees and a coconut tree were planted. We are regularly conducting our camps in Disha. This was our 5th camp in this Covid-19 period, and it is remarkable that not a single case of Covid has been found in this area, not even patients of general cold have been identified. Ever since this situation arose, Disha had been pioneer in creating awareness amongst the rural population regarding Covid and has implemented all guidelines and safety measures. Proper social distancing norms are followed in the premises. Masks are being distributed in the entry gate itself. Thermal screening and hand sanitization is done in 3 stages for the patients and the visitors who come to Disha. We thank all our patrons, volunteers, our aarogya doot and sevikas and our donors for their support and involvement towards this community development project and for being associated with Disha selflessly.
